About

Axis & Allies: Expanded is the original 2004 game on its own engine, not a remake. It keeps the original gameplay, campaigns and art, and adds what a modern PC can carry: up to 16 sides, larger maps, online play, a Direct3D 11 renderer and one launcher.

Coming soon. Not available to download yet. Requires your own copy of Axis & Allies (2004).

What's in v16

The rules and units are the original game's. What changes are the limits, the camera, the graphics and the ways to play together.

Bigger battles

  • Up to 16 sides

Play with up to 16 sides on larger maps.

  • 40 division HQs per side

Raise up to 40 division HQs per side, up from 20 (28 for the USA).

  • 200 regiments

    The regiment ceiling is 200.

Camera and controls

  • 1.5× zoom-out

See more of the battlefield: the camera zooms out 1.5 times farther than the original game allows.

  • WASD panning

Pan the battle camera with W, A, S and D as well as the arrow keys.

  • Fullscreen switch

Turn fullscreen on in Options > Video. Confirm the new mode, or let the timer run out to go back.

  • Correct layout at high Windows scaling

The game window and click targets stay right at 150 % scaling.

Graphics

  • Direct3D 11 renderer

The game draws through dgVoodoo 2 on Direct3D 11.

  • Anti-aliasing without grid lines

Smooth edges, without the dark terrain grid lines that anti-aliasing used to cause.

  • Sharper and cleaner

Anisotropic filtering, 2x or 3x supersampling, and a choice of scaling filters.

  • Optional ReShade

SMAA anti-aliasing, CAS sharpening and a light colour boost, off by default.

Memory

  • Up to 4 GB of memory

The game is Large Address Aware, so it can use up to 4 GB on 64-bit Windows.
